Beginning April 9, 2010
April 1, 2010: Thomas Hayes — the connoisseur of hard-edge painting, who famously spearheaded a survey of works by hard-edge pioneer June Harwood at NOHO Modern in 2002 — has invited Grant Wiggins to be among three painters showcased in the grand opening exhibition of his Hollywood gallery, Thomas Hayes Gallery.
A 6,500-square-foot showroom at 6162 Santa Monica Blvd., in Hollywood, California, Thomas Hayes Gallery blends a wide selection of art (including paintings by hard-edge legend John Barbour, as well as Arthur Ellsworth and Jason Fitzmaurice) with an impressive collection of iconic midcentury furnishings and hand-crafted pieces by leading Brazilian furniture designers.
For the opening, Hayes has selected 15 pieces by Wiggins, which span the two poles in the artist's oeuvre. Minimalist paintings on view include Süfnex and Eodroon. Graphic "maximalist paintings" include The Acid Rain Falls Mainly on the Acid Plain.
